iCare Disability Employment Centre (iDEC) is the latest community project established and steered by iCare Community Services Inc. Since iCares’ inception, the aim has always been to change and transform the lives of people with a disability. iDEC will definitely achieve that. iDEC is an employment linkage and capacity building project for the people with a disability and includes an Op Shop, Laundromat and Free Clothing Hamper support services that will be manned and operated by people with a disability.

To provide Supported Employment linkage, community access, and capacity-building employment services to people with a disability.

To reduce the gap in unemployment for people with a disability. We believe together, we can.

Our supported employment allows you to earn real-life employment skills whilst still having access to ongoing coaching and daily support.

Frequently Asked Questions

People who have an injury, illness or disability that affects their ability to work are eligible for Disability Employment Services. Check out our list of supported conditions.

To be eligible for Disability Employment Services you will also need to:

  • Have a diagnosed injury, illness or disability
  • Are aged at least 14 to 65
  • Are at or above the minimum legal working age in your state or territory
  • Are able to work at least eight hours per week (with support when required)
  • Are an Australian resident
  • Receive an income support payment
  • Are not studying full time (unless you’re an eligible school leaver)
  • Are not working at or above your assessed employment capacity

Disability Employment Services also helps people living with injury or health condition (including mental health codndition) find meaningful work.

Absolutely. At iCare Disability Employment Centre, we understand that not all conditions we live with are visible and that’s why the support we provide is bespoke to your needs. Research suggests that the right role with the right employer can be beneficial to our mental wellbeing and your Job Coach will be able to support you in finding a role that aligns with your circumstances.
